For couples that have made the difficult decision to divorce, divorce mediation is a collaborative problem solving process that allows the couple to reach an acceptable agreement on all the issues that need to be resolved in any divorce which at a minimum are: division of assets, division of debts, spousal maintenance, and if there are children, parenting arrangements and spousal maintenance. So you don’t have to return to mediation or Court in the future to address issues that might have been anticipated, we also ask you to consider issues such as college education, tax deductions and credits, and relocation. The mediators are impartial but provide the couple all the tools they need to make good decisions. Our Divorce Mediation Notebook offers information on Arizona divorce law, divorce tax law, Arizona Child Support Guidelines, helping children through the divorce process, the Parent Information Program, and sample Court forms. We also offer clients computerized scenarios of their after-tax situations so they know if they will have a budget surplus or deficit in each scenario. Computer analyses allow clients to maximize their tax savings. Couples can choose to use one mediator or co-mediation with a male and female mediator working together. Many couples prefer the gender balance and insights that mediators with legal and mental health backgrounds bring. Choosing divorce mediation allows couples to keep control of the process of ending their marriage. We work on the couple’s timetable and everything is confidential. Divorce mediation is quicker and much less expensive than litigation and financial outcomes are the same. We encourage couples to use the Issue Questionnaire in our Divorce Mediation Notebook to identify areas of agreement as well as disagreement so the mediators can help the couple focus on the issues on which they don’t agree, saving time and money.
