Hour photo/Jennifer Manna Walter Marcus has been a mediator for 20 years. He is a graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Law and as a Connecticut attorney, he practiced Family Law for 30 years. He is an Advanced Practitioner Member of the Association for Conflict Resolution, member of the Arizona Dispute Resolution Association, founder and former President of the Connecticut Council for Divorce Mediation, former Chair of the Connecticut Bar Association Divorce Mediation Committee, a member of the Association of Family Courts and Community Professionals, a member of the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section of the Connecticut Bar Association, a member of the Alterative Dispute Section of the Connecticut Bar Association and serves as a Special Master for the Connecticut Superior Court . He chaired the Standards of Practice Committee for the Connecticut Council for Divorce Mediation, which drafted Connecticut’s first ethical standards and best practices for Connecticut mediators. Walter Marcus is an Arizona Certified Legal Document Preparer. Mary G. Marcus, Ph.D. has been a Psychologist Mediator for 12 years and has had a private practice of individual, couples and family therapy for 25 years. Dr. Marcus is an Advanced Practitioner Member of the Association for Conflict Resolution, member of the Arizona Dispute Resolution Association, former President and Member of the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Council for Divorce Mediation, a member of the American Psychological Association and the Connecticut Psychological Association and serves as a Special Master for the Connecticut Superior Court. Mary Marcus is an Arizona Certified Legal Document Preparer. Walter Marcus and Mary G. Marcus, Ph.D. are the authors of the Winter, 1999 article in Mediation Quarterly, "To Mediate or Not to Mediate: Financial Outcomes in Mediated Versus Adversarial Divorces," which was the first research study to statistically compare the financial results in the two most popular divorce formats in Connecticut.
